St Elisabeth's Church is an Anglo Catholic church in Reddish, Stockport, designed by the renowned architect Alfred Waterhouse in his famous Victorian Gothic style. The Grade I listed building has a separate belltower, and a rectory which was also designed by Waterhouse in 1974 – the rectory and south and west church walls are Grade II* listed buildings.
The church also features contrastingly modern Stations of the Cross, which were commissioned in 1983 and feature stunning local views such as Stockport Viaduct and Pendlebury Hall. St Elisabeth’s has been featured on the TV soap opera Coronation Street and other TV productions.
LITE Architectural was appointed to design, supply, install and commission the exterior lighting scheme for the project. LITE supplied UniFlood C Pro luminaires by Philips. These architectural LED floodlights provide both fixed and dynamic lighting for façade and outdoor floodlighting applications.
LITE selected these luminaires for their excellent power yet compact design, with the front section providing floodlighting and the back section housing the electrical components. The lighting level was set to a static warm white and the luminaires are housed in cages, to envelop the church in a soft, welcoming ambience in contrast to its dark Gothic design.
